Intellectual Output 1: Review of the Missing Social, Emotional and Personal Skills of Young Offenders

The Output involves the systematic review of the missing social, emotional and personal skills of young offenders. It will identify the project’s target group profile in relation to specific knowledge and skills required for their preparedness to integrate once they are released.

The Output consists of two main activities:
    a. the literature review: The aim of the literature review is to provide a thorough bibliographical research on the state-of-the-art of the existing personal development initiatives in the participating countries and across Europe.

    b. the young offenders training needs analysis: A total eighty (80) interviews will be conducted with young offenders in order to investigate their needs, their strengths and deficiencies in knowledge and skills related to their effective and permanent integration to society.

These first hand testimonies will reflect the reality prisoners face across Europe and will dictate all crucial aspects of the project’s intervention.

Intellectual Output 3: The Skills4Life Implementation Guide

This Output involves the practical implementation of the training in the four participating countries- the Skills4Life Workshops, when at least 80 young offenders will participate and benefit from this educational intervention. After the piloting of the project’s learning approach, the experience and the conclusions from tis testing will be collected and included in the project’s Implementation Guide.

The Implementation Guide will constitute a combination of all the findings that emerged throughout the project regarding the creation and provision of a comprehensive methodology as a tool for the successful empowerment of the individual, his/her support in resettling back into the community and future desistance from crime.

It will also offer inputs on how  to transfer the approach and successfully integrate it in a range of other penitentiary institutes. Both the theoretical and the practical framework for the development and implementation of the project approach will also be included in the Guide.
